dankie aan al ons ouers, opvoeders en leerders vir 'n baie suksesvolle
interskole teen Somerset-Wes Primęr!
SPORT
We
enjoyed a successful and most enjoyable sport tour last week: Port Elizabeth
and surrounds. Netball:
Played 3: won 2, lost 1. Rugby:
Played 3: won 1, lost 2. We
compliment our players on excellent behaviour and good ambassadorship. Our gratitude also to coaches Beau
Schoeman, Anton Mostert, Rianza Snyman and Christelle Hugo for accompanying
the learners. Thanks to the parents who travelled with the team - this
gesture is appreciated. SPICES PROJECT Payments
can be done every morning by yourself or your child. Please pay at Anneke
(bursar’s office). FOOD DONATIONS We
are urgently in need of non-perishable food (eg. tinned meat/fish, oil,
pastas) to help those in need. RECYCLING Recycling
is going fairly slow - we appeal to all our parents to support this
project. Mr
Recycle collect these items: •
Glass, plastics, metal, paper, polystyrene and flattened cardboard. •
Please place paper products in a separate bag within the larger bag/s. •
Please wash food containers otherwise our sorting yard becomes very smelly. •
You are welcome to send your cooking and motor oils in sturdy collection
containers. •
E-waste as well as old toys will be collected at the same time. •
Please put everything in bags. They want no loose materials on the collection
vehicles. Mr
Recycle also collects from homes on the day BEFORE the traditional waste
collection day. Please have a look at their website, www.mrrecycle.co.za if
you need further information, or phone Martin Brink (tel 079 138 9262) LEARNER SAFETY During
the course of the normal school day (this includes the two breaks and after
school sport) we, as a school, look after learners interests as best we can.
We are always aware of the possible dangers that ‘surround’ us and that could
threaten the present blessed and quiet school environment. We
again request you not to leave your child/ren unattended at school after the
normal activities have ended waiting on a pavement for you, or to bring your
child to school in the early hours of the morning long before the first bell
rings. The risk is yours. We
do not have additional staff or the financial capacity to ensure a safe
environment outside of ‘our normal hours’. We are considering a safety
budget, in addition to the normal school budget at the 2009 budget meeting,
should you as parents regard this matter as a priority and are willing to pay
for it – the choice will be yours. |
